Emelie Johansson Russell
I'm an artist / photographer / videographer / designer from Strömstad, Sweden. I combine art making with teaching and freelance work in a variety of mediums.
I’m an ambitious Creative with a passion for art, design and visual storytelling. With a background in communication and fine art, I have a wide variety of experience: from publicity, photography, and gallery management, to teaching, soccer coaching, and caregiving for people with Alzheimer’s disease.
I taught myself HTML and created my first website when I was 11 and spent hours hoarding my family’s dial-up connection. I quickly exchanged Microsoft Paint for Adobe Photoshop 7 and I’ve never stopped learning new creative skills. What I don’t know, I figure out.
I still carry my childhood curiosity and always juggle a wide variety of projects. Photography is my primary medium, but I also create videos, handmade books, and graphic designs.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Studio Art from DePauw University in 2012. Following graduation I worked as an Efroymson Arts Intern and teaching assistant in the Art Department at DePauw University and co-directed the Low Road Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in Greencastle, Ind. I currently live and work in Indianapolis, Ind.
